Third Times a Charm

Yes, this is my third Monday in a row that I've dragged my sorry behind into work and tried to be productive. But The 4AM wake-up is a bitch! Although I am getting used to it, in some sick demented way. God...how bizarre is that.

Props to Witold for showing me all these different blog sites, might look into moving my little slice ofthe Interweb over there, but no worries, will let ya'll know what I'm up to.

Right...so what did I DO all weekend...well, hung out with Mr. & Mrs. Andrew (Rich's folks). Good times. They came down to visit for the weekend (thanks for makin' the trek guys!) We ate, drank and were merry. AND we even hit up the TSO for a concert and visited George's old classmate - from the "Old Country" (Scotland) in London (ON...of course! It's funny doing that distinction here in NY...people just kind of look at you weird. Anyway, the peeps were super nice and we had a great lunch in Jolly London Town (and a nice 4 hour round trip in the car, weeee).

When we got home we were so rev'ed by all the tunes on the radio (not really, but makes for a good segue) we felt the need to ROCK OUT with some Guitar Hero! Hellls Ya!!! It's truly a game that bridges generations. Perhaps GH is the solution to all the world's problems. Mr. Pakistan...pick up a Fender and play a little Guns n' Roses, I promise it'll make ya feel much better!

George Givin' Er. Notice Happy in the background. He's playing the game too...with his LASER EYES!)

Honestly, that's the weekend in a nutshell. Nothing too much more on the go. This week...more good times. Workin' with Ms.CiCi (awesome) on some Six Flags (double awesome) so life is good!

More chats later, thanks for cutting me some slack. A lame post, but it's a Trans-Border Monday...so your patience is appreciated!

Cheers All,
LisaC

Merry Friday

OMG, why do I find these pictures so damn funny? I've made an executive decision (yes, the power. The control. It's all mine to abuse!) Whenever I can't find an appropriate picture for a post, I'm gonna head over to icanhascheezburger.com and find a pic that makes me giggle, like this one....oh my sides. (thanks for the pics "ican"...hope you don't mind?)

Meanwhile back in people land...it's that sweet, wonderful time of year (and week). First, let's get the business out of the way first. Heading home (tonight). Hanging with Rich, Happy and his folks (not necessarily in that order). Yeah! But flying out of JFK (booo). It's funny...this is actually the first time I'll ever be flying OUT of that airport, hmm. I'm guessing the experience will be just as heinous as flying INTO the place. Joy!

Onto the fun stuff. It's that magical time of year and since it's just around the corner, I thought I'd start taking pictures of all the fun "holiday" things that are popping up all around the city. Last night, I was walking through Columbus Circle (if you're unfamiliar with this area, it's just next to Central Park, around 8th Ave & 62nd'ish street). I love, love, LOVE it around there!

So on my promenade back home from the gym, I took a few snaps of the twinkly trees outside the "mall" (or at least the closest thing you get to one in Manhattan) as well as come decorations inside. Ahhhh....
In the next few weeks I'll get shots of Rockafeller Center (the Tree lighting is Nov. 28 - thanks for the heads up Mom!) as well as other spots throughout the city. Got a place in mind, or heard of a pretty holiday display. Drop me a comment and let me know, I'll run by and take a pic to share with everyone.

Have a great weekend ya'll. And before you leave for your fun...I'll give you my Friday Confession. Walking home last night, bundled up in my new red coat (thanks for the hook up Jaime, let me know when that Macy's bill comes in!) I had a moment of bliss, a sense that maybe I can hack it out on this insane island. Life suddenly felt a little more comfortable and a little less spooky. I was the same rush I felt when Mark and I stepped off the plane in January (coming here for work). Who knows, maybe it was the cold, (after all, cold = home) but things are just a bit easier now. I'm definately not a New Yorker (and will never be one) but for today, at least I feel a little less like a visitor.

Enjoy the weekend. Stay warm and talk to ya post 4AM wakeup call on Monday - oi!

ONE MORE SLEEP!

Yes, this is how I live my life...counting sleeps. For example, there are only 12 more sleeps till YanksGiving (after great debate this is how I shall now reference the upcoming US holiday, Kudos Paul!) Whereas there are still 42 sleeps to go till the Christmas Holidays (man, that seems quick). And a mere 20 sleeps left of my 29th year (indeed the big, the dirty, the 30 is just around the corner)

But we're focusing on the now and today there's is only one sleep I'm concerned with...the one that stands between me and my Poucey (dear God...I'm sharing EVERYTHING with you guys. Well, Poucey is the cheese name I call Rich. It's a pet name. I know, it's lame, but it means "lice" in French and I think that's kind of funny!)

This weekend Rich's folks are visiting from Edmonton/Victoria (no they're not divorced). It's kind of funny when you think about since we are living parallel lives. One lives in Edmonton - for work, the other in Victoria. I think now would be an appropriate time for some saying about an apple and a tree. But I digress...

Would love to hang with all you "Toranta" peeps, but looks like I'll be pretty busy with family good times (sorry). Don't worry, I'll just see you all in a few MORE sleeps!

Kisses,
LisaC

The week just ain't gettin' better

Sorry ya'll. Bad day, got the "here's how your doing talk" which is generally NEVER a bad thing. The good old "sandwich" method of compliments. You're good because you show up everyday, HOWEVER bad bad bad bad, BUT we're confident that you won't be such a douche in the future. Keep up the good work.

Uugghhh

So not exactly zippy today (and the "formal" review is tomorrow. God I can only imagine). Ok so I'm being a WEE bit dramatic (it really wasn't THAT bad) but I do take things rather personally (especially when you're trying hard to impress). Just have to work EVEN harder (Saints preserve us!)

Anyway...to cheer us all up I'm going to post a fun little video. Think I might make this a little sidebar section on the blog. What I'm watching. Since you're guaranteed I'm pretty much always watching something.

Cool...here we go (Lisa's first embedded video!)

Have a good one. More later, when I'm in a better mood. Sorry.

The OTHER post

O.k. so I said I'd redeem myself with a double posting whammy. Alas, I still don't have anything overly dramatic to talk about.

Walked by 30 Rock at lunch yesterday and saw all the peeps striking, exciting. No celeb writer types (although I hear that Tina Fey was among the crowd?)

I think my neighbour is either:
a) a drug dealer
b) running a brothel
c) insanely popular

You see, there are all sorts of random folks coming and going from my building. OR just waiting downstairs as people enter and leave the apartment. So I don't know WHAT to think. They're nice peeps, so I'm sure it's just their quilting circle having a get together. Positive!

More building news - I found out who my neighbour (building wise) is...Montel Williams. Yeah, I live right next to the Montel Williams Show. You see every now and again I'd see all these people outside my building (there are these two black doors without handles next to my entrance) and they'd all be standing their with flyers in hand, chatting, milling...that kinda thing. So the other day I finally ask one of the folks what they're doing on the street. She replies (in a tone that you'd use on a COMPLETELY unhip person I might add). "Ugghh we just left the Montel Williams Show (moron - ok I added that for dramatic effect, but you get what I'm talking about). AWESOME! The flyers - those are headshots of Mr.Williams, with a PRE-PRINTED signature on it. PRICELESS! I was trying to steal one from one of the peeps, but Ms.Cranky Pants wasn't all that into sharing. Will keep my eyes peeled for any neglected "photos" and scan it for ya. Pure Genius!

So there, all is not crap on this fair (rainy) Tuesday evening. Hope you're having a fine night...now bring on the Humpity Hump Day!

WooHoo

The boring post

I always hate starting a post with "Sorry I didn't write but...excuse, excuse, excuse." This is the part where Rich would normally chim in saying something to the effect of, "You're weak Charlebois...WEAK!" But in my defense, I DID wake up at 4:15AM, get onto a plane at 6:00, land at 7:45 then get onto a train at 8:34, into a cab at 9:00 and into work at 9:35. So yeah, a bit of a day yesterday. And really, nothing overly dramatic happened anyway. So it's like you missed much!

The weekend - well, I got a SUPER last minute, dirt cheap ticket home and had a wee Guitar Hero night with Keri, Keith and Mark (sorry, it would have been bigger, if I were a better planner) So will start posting my schedule of "home trips" here, so then we can figure out when we can hook up (cause so far I haven't been too stellar with it)
GH was WICKED! Seriously, if I get canned (hopefully that's not in the near future) I'm going to become a "pro" Guitar Hero. Although I got nothing on Keri and her high kicks action. SWEET!
.
Sunday - well, that was just a day. Rich had to work (booo) and so did I (double boo) BUT was kind of nice having that sense of noramlcy in our lives.

Monday - well, we're pretty much covered on that one.

Tuesday - more work, more meetings. I'm certainly feelin' the O vibe. Gettin' used to things (even have my "review" on Thursday...should be interesting since I haven't actually WORKED here all that long, but it's just that lucky time of year).

Then back home again this weekend (yes, third one in a row...thankfully get a repreave after that). Richard's folks are in town so will catch up with them.

Geez, just realized this is a horribly boring post. I'm so sorry. How's this, I'll think of something a wee bit more "philisophical" for the next one (maybe even later today to make up for the poor showing yesterday). And try to pep up the boringness of my everyday life (it's also raining outside, which makes for extra poopy posting).

Right, onwards and upwards (hehehehhe)
talk soon

Bad Blogger

Oops...missed yesterday and a wee bit late in writing today. Sorry about that. It seems like the powers that be here at the Big O have found me and piled on the work, so my dear readers, I've been a tad neglectful. Sorry. Enough groveling, onto the recap at hand.

Halloween in NYC is extra spooky, I'm I'm not just talking about the crazy shooting at Union Square (I'm getting used to hearing about stuff like that on the news, seems like I'm "fitting in.") No, what I'm REALLY talking about, is the bizarre way kids trick or treat here.

As you can imagine, there aren't too many "houses" in Manhattan. So where are the kids supposed to go for candy? The local stores and restaurants of course! Yep, on my walk home Wednesday night I saw all these kiddies going into Bodgega's (that's the "technical" term for corner stores around here) and restaurants, clothing stores, EVERYWHERE. And the best part, the shop owners werre THRILLED to see them. It was so darn cute!

Yesterday, in an effort to clear the piles of work from my feeble brain, I took a wee walk to Rockefeller Centre at lunch (yes, that's a PURPOSEFUL "re" I will write in Yankee style for work...but here, it's Canuck the whole way!)They brough the Ocean Spray Cranberry campaign to life, complete with cranberry bog, talent from the TV spot and plenty o' samples of juice and dried berries. Lots of fun. I love seeing those marketing budgets come to l life.

This weekend back to the T dot, thanks to my good pals at Continental (not a plug, but if Mr.Continental would like to sponsor this blog you COULD be the official carrier of LisaCinNYC. Think about it!) Anyway, crazy last minute special that I scooped up. So will delight you with tales of Guitar Hero on Monday (having a wee do on Saturda y I think) Goo d times.

Hope you're well. Will (hopefully) start working on that book this weekend (by this weekend I mean on the plane, where I do all my most productive efforts!) hehehe

Talk soon,
LisaC

P.S. Yankee'Giving (my new name for US Thanksgiving...gets too confusing when you just say Thanksgiving) is coming up. Got any great recipe or holiday ideas? Share them with your fellow readers and make a post in the comments section.
